Absence temporarily over???

I HOPE SO!!!

WOW!!! I have been away WAAAAAYYYYYY too long!!! The girls are being REALLY super good this morning so I thought I would take advantage and hop on the old 'puter for a few minutes to see what's shakin on here!

I have a few pictures to share, eventually, but I don't have them loaded onto the computer yet. I hope to get that done in the next week or so. I would really like to get everything loaded on here, organized and then backed up again. I've let it go too long.

Things have been really busy here... not even quite sure where to start! We're getting ready for the holiday season. I'm getting the house decorated... slowly... with my 2 little elves in tow.

I'll check in again as soon as I can! Tootles!

PTI - WCMD Challenge #4: Australia

ETA: FINALLY getting in here to update on these cards! GOODNESS!!! Where does time go?!?

Papertrey Ink hosted a World Card Making Day challenge and 4 different catagories. This particular one, Australia, kind of just fell together for me. I wanted to keep the focus on the patterned paper that I used because to me, that felt a little "rustic" and the colors really just seemed to "go".

I used a layout recently done by the insanely talented Laurie . I absolutely LOVE this woman's style. Her work speaks to me like no other. LOVE her blog!!!

All products used are Papertrey Ink except for the patterned paper (and I've had that paper in my stash for so long I couldn't even tell you where its from!).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's REALLY late (or really early... depending on your perspective) so I'm just going to post my cards and then will be back tomorrow with all the "deet's". NIGHT!!!
Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #17
OH MY GOODNESS!!! LOVE this color combo Dawn!!! I'll have to admit, though, this was a little challenging for me to come up with something but I think I did it!
I created this happy little anniversary card yesterday for this color challenge AND for World Cardmaking Day. All supplies used are Papertrey Ink (except for the staples, the brown ink and the sentiment stamp ;) )
Don't you just LOVE that GORGEOUS over-sized aqua mist button!?
Stamped the star border from "Let Freedom Ring" in the chai ink for a subtle touch of added texture.
Thanks for looking!!!
I hate Monday's...
But yet they keep coming back every week... *sigh*
It's been awhile since I've made a post on here... sorry about that! It was kind of a hectic week last week! I had to adjust my work schedule (again) so that I could get Mia to and from pre-school and still have Sophie in day care, etc etc etc.... I had a Dr appointment on Tuesday (nothing serious... just a normal check-up), I took Mia to "The Wizard Of Oz" at the theater on Wednesday night. It's the 70th anniversary of the movie so they were having a special showing at select theaters. It was the first time the movie was shown in hi-def. It was AMAZING!!! The ticket price was a little steep I thought ($10 a person... didn't matter the age) but it was worth it. I'm glad we went. Mia and I shared a pop and a popcorn and just had a great time. There weren't a lot of people there but that was OK. I thank my lucky stars that Mia is such a good little girl that I can take her to places like that and not have to worry. She's so well behaved. She just sits there quietly and watches the movie. If she wants to tell me something, she whispers. God love her!
Friday was Jeremy's and my 5-year wedding anniversary. We went out for supper on Saturday night. Splurged a little. It was YUMMY!!!
Saturday Jeremy and I both worked. He got home a little before noon. At around noon I drove to Pat's house to pick up bifolds to bring back to the school in town (there was a wedding that night). At around 1pm, I went over to the school and set up the bifolds and then had to set up a HUGE cupcake tree!!! 5 TIERS!!! Also had to plug in all of the lights. Got done at around 3pm. Had to go back at 4:30pm to light the candles... SO PRETTY!!!
Yesterday was a really busy day... got up and got ready (QUICKLY!!!). We all piled in the car. Dropped Mia off at Sunday school. Jeremy dropped me off at my work. Our cleaning lady is on vacation this week so I emptied the garbages, did the dishes and carpet swept the high spots while he and Sophie went grocery shopping. When they were done, they came back and picked me up, we went and picked Mia up and then went to McD's for a quick breakfast. Got home and then I went up to the school in Pemberton to tear-down from the wedding the day before. Got back home around 1ish. Jeremy and the girls were gone so I just vegged on the couch for awhile.
When he got home, he put the girls down for a nap and then I went to pick up my stuff from the craft show. I didn't do as well as I had hoped but I did OK! I guess I got a lot of compliments but people just weren't ready to buy Christmas/Holiday stuff yet. The owner has asked me to come back for their show in December and to bring a lot of gift tags, gift bags, Christmas cards, thank-you's and birthday cards. Maybe some more journals. Guess I'm going to be a busy little bee the next few months! :)
Now, back to work today. Blech. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Fixed...
OK... I've fixed the comments section of my blog so that you can ALL leave me a message now. :) I had it set to only registered users apparently... Thanks for pointing that out Corrine!
Hope everyone has a great Monday! I think we are ALL FINALLY better at our house. I think we deserve a break. It's been a rough couple of weeks.
Mia started Sunday school yesterday and, as I predicted, had a great time! The girl LOVES to sing and they have a "music" time so they got to play instruments. That kind of thing is right up her alley.
She was pretty bummed that she had to go to day care today. She wanted to go back to her "pretty school" (translation: pre-school) today. I told her that she can go again tomorrow and that she and I have to do her homework tonight. That seemed to put her in better spirits. We have a "scrappy" project to do so it's pretty much a no-brainer for the both of us. She LOVES to help me scrap so this will be fun!
Back to work... Bye!!!
Scared Mommy!
Little Miss Sophie gave us quite the scare last night...
Yesterday, around 4pm, day care called and said that Sophie was running a temp and that she was just "irritable" (my words). She just couldn't seem to get comfortable and was not her usual happy, smiley, lovable self. I told them I would be right there.
Her temp was around 100*-101* and it seemed to be rising. I called Jeremy thinking he could just meet me to take Mia home while I took Sophie to Urgent Care but they ended up staying with us. Poor little girl... she was just miserable! Her eyes were all red and glassy and you could just tell she wasn't feeling well at all. When we got in to see a doctor, the nurse took her temp and now it was 103*! EEEEEKKK!!!!!!!! The doctor took a look at Sophie's ears and throat, listened to her lungs and they did a little oxygen test on her. All checked out fairly well... ears and throat were "a little red" but not enough to call it strep or an ear infection. Just to be on the safe side and to give Sophie some relief, she Rx some amoxicillin and gave her a dose of Motrin while we were there. By the time Mia and I got the Rx filled and got home, Sophie seemed to be doing MUCH better. She even had a little supper and sucked down about 2 bottles of milk! Things were looking pretty good.
Then came 11:30pm. Sophie woke up and was just kind of moaning. She was burning up and lethargic. She wouldn't open her eyes, she wouldn't take her bottle of milk. I couldn't get her to take her medicine if she wouldn't even drink her milk so I had to do something to get her to come out of it. I tried rubbing her back, singing her favorite song to her (Dora the Explorer) and nothing. Poor little thing just kept moaning and wanting to cry, but she just couldn't. Even when I sat her up, her little head just hung forward. I was getting pretty worried by this point when I remembered reading on someones blog about her son having a terribly high fever and she put him in a luke warm bath. So, into the tub Sophie went!
She was NOT a happy camper about that but I didn't care at that point. I just needed to get her temperature down (side note... my thermometer's battery must have died because it wasn't working and the paci-thermometer that I bought yesterday - Sophie wouldn't take it so I was shooting blind at this point). Jeremy has a laser temperature thing (I have no idea why or what it is supposed to be used for) and at one point when he tried that (hey, it was better than the big fat nothing I had!) it read 103*.
So after her first bath, she came around a little bit and I cuddled her a little and she drank a little bit of the bottle but it still didn't seem like she was "all there" so I put her back into the tub. This time for a little longer. Again, she was NOT happy but after a little bit she got a little better. When she seemed like she was more alert, I took her out. Poor thing just wanted to go to sleep but I wanted to keep her awake long enough to drink her bottle (I put the Motrin in there) to get some fluids in her again. I put a Dora DVD into the player and she watched enough so I could actually get a reading off of the paci-thermometer (she sort of took it - it was 102*) and to finish her bottle. While I was washing the bottles so I would have a clean one for in the morning, Sophie fell asleep so Jeremy moved her back into her crib and she slept the rest of the night.
This morning, it was like she was never sick! She must have broke her fever overnight because she didn't feel warm at all this morning and has been happy and playing all morning long. Hopefully the worst of it is over.
This may not seem like a big deal to some but this was for us. Mia is 3 1/2 years old and Sophie is now 1 and we have NEVER had to take either of them to the doctor for anything other than a well-baby visit. EVER!!! We've been SOOOOOOO lucky! Sophie broke our streak but I don't mind. I'm glad we took her in when we did... whatever she had needed a little something more than Motrin and Tylenol and now she is well on her way back to being healthy again.
Preschool and Parties...
Good afternoon all (if there is anyone out there actually reading this... I don't know... SPEAK PEEPS!!! SIGN IN!!! LET ME KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE!!!)
Today was Mia's first day of pre-school. The "official" first day was last Tuesday but I didn't get her signed up until that day so she missed it. To say that she was BEYOND excited to go to school is and understatement. In fact, I asked her, "Mia, are you just a little bit excited for school today?" Her reply? "NO! I'm A LOT a little bit excited mom!" LOL! We bought her a backpack last night. It's got all the bells and whistles. I was all set to get her the $5 clearance one which was cute... just a couple of pockets... that's all a pre-schooler needs, right? WRONG!!! She would NOT have it... she HAD to have the green cordoroy one with the pink butterflies with all the pockets. At least that was only $15 so its not like it broke the bank. And, she'll most likely have that thing for a few years so it's all good. I took pictures so I'll have to get those posted later.
We're FINALLY having a 1st birthday party for Sophie with Jeremy's family on Saturday. Its not going to be anything fancy... just fun. :) I hope my little chunky monkey starts to feel a little better... she's got a little cold at the moment that just won't loosen its grip (on either of the girls, really). I hope its not the same crud that's been going around that lasts for weeks and weeks and weeks like I've heard other people saying. :( That would stink. But, we'll just have to keep doing our best to take care of them the best we can. At least they aren't running fevers. Just a runny nose, congestion and a cough (Mia). Typical cold crap.
Last night I took some of my crafty creations out to a craft show to put up for sale. I took out cards, gift tags a journal and "boo" baskets. I hope I sell... SOMETHING!!! HA!!! I'm going to keep making things and take them out there little by little. Maybe something will sell. Let's hope so!
Well, time to get back to work. Tootles!
Patience is a virtue... that I do not posess!
Just placed an order for some new fun stuff!!! Buttons, inks, stamp set..... ahhhhhhhh.... I wish over-night delivery was a MUST!!!!
Looks like I'm going to have a pre-schooler on my hands!!! Oy... not sure I'm ready for this! Mia will also be starting Sunday school this week. I think she is really going to enjoy that. We sang "Jesus Loves Me" at church last Sunday and she just about came out of her skin because she knew that song and could sing along! If there is one thing that that little girl loves, its to sing. She "sings" along to the other church songs as best as she can - even though she doesn't know the song or the words. It's cute. We even got to meet one of her teachers for Sunday school who just happened to be sitting right next to us.
I'm going to go and register Mia for pre-school on my lunch hour.... coming up in a few minutes thankfully! I'm HUNGRY!!! That girl is just so excited to start school! She's too much of a social butterfly to not be around others. Pre-school will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from noon to 2:30...... so it cuts into naptime which I'm not happy about but what else can I do? All of my other options seem to be exhausted at this point. I have a few more phone calls to make so we'll see.
Well, that's about all I know for now. Pretty boring. Can't WAIT for my day off tomorrow!
Hayride Night!!!
Quick post before I head upstairs and make some cole slaw quick and then back outside to visit with the neighbors. Tonight is our annual neighborhood Baer Circle hayride!!! YIPPIE!!!! :) We always have so much fun!
We "host" in our "garage-mahal" as it is so affectionately referred to around here. We start out with some beverages, a pot-luck and then when it seems like everyone who is coming is here and ready, we load up and away we go! NO KIDS!!! :) LOL! We always have a lot of fun. We're usually gone for about 5 or so hours so you can about imagine. I will MAYBE post some pictures... it all depends on how everyone behaves! LOL!
So, time to ski-daddle! Later gators!
Back to the Land of the Living!
Hey all (or at least the few of you that follow my blog... hee!)
We're back from the 'rents and I *think* I'm finally over this bug! Ugh... I don't wish that on my worst enemy! I don't think I've ever been so violently ill in my LIFE!!! Thankfully I took the brunt of it... Mia and Jeremy weren't NEARLY as sick as I was and Sophie seems to have come thru it completely uneffected. However, I think she is working her way towards tooth #3... HOPEFULLY!!! The girl is 13 months old and only has her bottom 2 teeth! Poor girl will be eating pureed steak for her fine dining when she's older at this rate! HA!
Because of the sickies at home this week, there really isn't a lot to report on. I'm going to be FRANTICALLY working on projects and cards this weekend to get ready for the craft show the next 2 weekends. I have some things in mind to make.... just need to get the creativity juices flowing and some time to do it in! I got THREE new stamp sets from PTI delivered to me (HAPPY DANCING!!!) earlier this week so I can not WAIT to get them all dirty!!!
Question for those of you that do visit my blog... I'm taking a bit of survey, I guess... If you were attending craft shows in the next few weeks, what would you like to see available for purchase? Fall/autumn/Halloween items? Christmas/holiday? A good mix of both? Would you like to see altered items (things for gifts like journals, picture frames, etc) as well as cards? Would you purchase a packaged set of Christmas/Holiday cards (say 5 or 6) for those "special" Christmas card recipients on your list? How about thank you cards for teachers? Wedding, anniversary, birthday, just because cards???
Let me know what you think!!! Leave me a comment by clicking on the "comment" link below! I'd LOVE to see who is visiting my blog! Sometimes I think I'm blogging for my own eyes! LOL!
Tootles!!!
One more sleep...
'Til Grandma and Grandpa's house!!!!!!! WAHOO!!!!!!
We're getting all geared up to head to my parents' house tomorrow night after work (boo for having to drive at night...). Can't wait! We have a fun and exciting weekend ahead of us! Although I'm excited to go home (have lots of fun stuff planned!) I'm also kind of sad. A lot of my family members are going 4-wheeling this weekend. Jeremy and I would LOVE to go but it just isn't going to work for us this weekend. Maybe next year... Mom already told me that if we wanted to go, she'd keep the girls. :)
Yesterday was a busy day of boring errands. Run here, run there but we got a lot done. Wish I would have got more done around the house though! I'm going to be up LATE tonight finishing laundry and packing now. :(
Since we were gone most of the day yesterday, I left Wally outside. He really loves to be outside in this weather. We have an invisible fencing unit so he stays pretty well put. Well, there has been a stray dog around the last few days and to my knowledge he hasn't really done any harm except to bother the neighbors dog (who is in heat.... Oy....). Well, yesterday must have prooved to much for the dog because he apparently attacked Wally.
I was on my way back home when Jeremy called and said that Wally was bleeding (again....) and he wouldn't let Jeremy look at him. I immediately thought the worst and thought someone had shot my dog again! So I race home. Wally came running out from under the steps (a good sign!) to meet me at my car door and was all prance-y like he usually is when I get home (a great sign!). I give him a once over and find that the tip of his ear had been bleeding but wasn't anymore. I checked over the rest of him really good and that was the only spot. WHEW!!! Found out about an hour or so later from our neighbor girl that the stray was over and he and Wally got into it. We did find some blood in front of the small door to the garage which must have been where the dogs got into it or where Wally went to after the altercation.
I was busy putting clothes away and Jeremy was outside on the phone with a friend of his when all of a sudden there was yelling going on next door. Apparently that same stray dog had just attacked our other neighbors' dog, Kodi. Poor Kodi... he's 14 years old and can't see or hear a THING and that dog just came up from behind and attacked him. Kodi didn't even know that the other dog was coming or even in the vacinity. I saw Kodi limp away and he had some cuts on his facial area.
Those neighbors called the county sheriffs dept and a friend of theirs who is a deputy was on call and said he'd take the call so he came over. Since the stray is after the other neighbors' dog (Maggie) who is in heat, he was still around. Overall, he is a very friendly dog... just doesn't play nice with others and is protective of Maggie. So, we got the stray in a collar and a leash on him - like I said, he was pretty friendly and is obviously used to having a collar on because he didn't bat an eye when I put it on him - and put him in the back of the squad car. For some reason, and I'm not sure why... maybe my voice???... I was the only one that could get the dog to the car. Galen, a neighbors friend, was there so he was the muscle holding onto the leash but the dog followed me.
The stray was a HUGE chocolate lab and when he made the decision that he wasn't going to move, he wasn't going to move! PERIOD! But, he was pretty calm and followed me to the car and listened to me when I told him to get in so he is/was obviously someone's pet and has had collars and leashes on and has ridden in a car before. I hope they find the owner. I'm guessing its someones farm dog not too far away from town and left the yard or slipped his collar and was just following his nose.
So, that was what took up part of my night besides the girls' baths and supper..... I need a vacation..... LOL!!!!
Tootles!
Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #16
REALLY quick post as I'm heading out the door...
Here are the challenge colors:
My card:
EDIT!!!
Since this was such a fly by post yesterday, I wanted to get back in here today and really give credit where credit is due.
First off, this card is CASE'd from one done by Alison Manning (found in the Sept/Oct 2009 issue of Paper Crafts Magazine - pg 72) so she really is the one that deserves all the credit. :)
Second, the totally FUN ruffled ribbon technique was recently brought to my attention by this wonderfully talented crafter, Lisa Johnson.
Last, and DEFINITELY not least, is the color challege itself posted by Dawn McVey.
~SUPPLIES~
Stamps: Miscellaneous
Other: PTI Rustic Wood Button, PTI Rustic Jute Twine, PTI Summer Sunrise Saddle Stitch Ribbon, Basic Gray Brown Rhinestones
Today's the Day!!!
Mia comes home today! Man I've missed that little girl!!! I know she had a fun time... And, honestly, we had a fun time alone with Sophie too. Her little personality REALLY had a chance to shine thru. Day care said she was a little jabber jaws yesterday. My response? Because she didn't have to compete with her chatty-Cathy sister for once! LOL!!!
Speaking of Sophie, she's trying SO hard to stand all by herself! Last Sunday was the first time I saw her crawl, stop in the middle of the floor with nothing around to support her, pull her feet under her and attempt to stand tall. For about the past week she's had GREAT fun in propping herself up on us if we're sitting on the floor and then will go to a quick stand and then "fall" back down on us again. She thinks this is pretty funny... and that she's a pretty smart little cookie when she does this too! She likes to take tours thru the house with her little "cart" that she pushes around and walks behind. She hasn't figured out how to steer yet so when she comes to stop, she'll just sit there and keep banging the cart into whatever it was that stopped her like that's going to make it move... honey... that's a wall. You have to go AROUND it... you can't beat your way THRU it. Gotta love her! It'll all come soon enough and THEN we'll REALLY be in trouble!!! This one has the stinker in her eyes FOR SURE!!!
We are headed to Wisconsin this weekend to visit my parents and to go home for my hometown's festival. COW CHIP!!! We won't get to mom and dad's until late Friday night and then Saturday is going to be JAM PACKED with fun stuff to do! Craft show in the morning, followed by a performance by the Cripple Creek Cloggers at the park (my mom is in this dancing group), then the parade at noon, my 15 year (ACK!) class reunion at 3pm until whenever... possibly headed to the beer garden that night for some suds and dancing. Sounds like my bestest high school friend Tina will be coming along and I'm SOOOOOO excited to be spending the day with her! I don't get to see her that often. Should be a lot of great laughs!
Til next time... TOOTLES!!!
Gettin' Dirty...
Since Mia is gone for a few days, Jeremy and I suckered Auntie Shawnie into watching Sophie for us yesterday afternoon while we took the 4-wheelers out. WHAT FUN!!! I wish we had more trails near us - it took about an hour to get to the trails - but I guess you gotta take what you can get. Because it's been so dry around here, there wasn't a lot of mud or water to play in but we did get dusty. :) I even did one "climb"! I was pretty proud! I'm not really brave on my 4-wheeler, I like to just tour on the trails and play in some mud and water... I'm not a "climber". I like level terrain with a few smallish "climbs". LOL!
Of course, there is always a price to pay when having fun... my allergies kicked into high gear once we were done. All that dust and pollen in the air took hold and I was MISERABLE. I was out cold by 8pm last night. Good thing Sophie went down (and stayed down!) relatively easy last night so I could get some much needed shut-eye. Dealing with allergies and running on approximately 4 hours of sleep doesn't do a body much good.
Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #15
Well, I tried! I was going to play along this month in Dawn McVey's color challenge but due to my HORRIBLE internet connection (hopefully that will be taken care of soon!) that didn't work out like I planned.
This is the color combo she came up with this month (that Dawn... She's a genious!):
Here's my take!
~~~SUPPLIES~~~
Ink: PTI Vintage Cream, PTI Tea Dye Due, Versamark Dazzle
**PTI - Papertrey Ink***

Sad Mommy...

Well, she's off. Mia, that is. She went on a mini-vacation with Grandma and Grandpa Sonday until Tuesday. I know she'll be fine as there will be a lot of other family members there as well but I'm a mom... I still worry. She was BEYOND excited though so that's good. I had to work this morning so I said my goodbye's early. Jeremy took her over to their house to get her and her stuff loaded and she couldn't wait to just get in the truck and go.

I got up this morning and came downstairs and made her 3 little love notes for Grandma to read to her... one for every morning. Here they are. I hope she likes them!
